Kustom Kulture II Exhibit

The Huntington Beach Art Center hosted the Kustom Kulture II show, 20 years after the first showing at the Laguna Art Museum in '93. Greg Escalante, C.R. Stecyk, and Paul Frank got together to curate this exhibition which explores the Kustom car and motorcycle world as well as the surf and skate culture of California. Featuring the work of legends like Big Daddy Roth, Von Dutch, Robert Williams, and Don Ed Hardy.

This could very well be a one time opportunity for me (and most) to be able to see all of this work together in one place, so it was absolute that we would be there. Full of art, sculpture, memorabilia and cars,, everyone walked around as if the knew this was the foundation of their world. Where would any of us be without these pieces of art?

In addition to the work of Roth, Williams and Von Dutch, the show was chalk full of other artists that have helped pave the way for up and comers around the world: Keith Weesner, Shag, The Pizz, Margaret Keene, Mark Ryden, Anthony Ausgang and Coop.

We were surrounded by heavy hitters in the custom culture industry like, Jeff Decker, Robert & Suzanne Williams, Greg Escalante, Paul Frank, Jesse James, Kat Von D, Tim Hendricks, The Burbank Choppers, The Pizz, and so many more. This was definitely not your average art exhibit, to say the least.

Here is a bit of what we saw...
